Stivason

Ruth Stivason, 97, of East Brady, passed away on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023.

She was born in Butler, on Aug. 24, 1926, to the late George and Nellie (Anthony) Gordon.

Ruth drove buses for numerous schools for more than 55 years until her retirement. She was known for being a strong and determined woman who was a good mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth loved quilting, sewing, shopping, working outside, baking and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson. She also loved to go bowling with her husband. Ruth loved her family, friends and neighbors. She was known to be the “neighborhood watch.”

She was the mother of Linda (Bill) Parise, Susie (Brent) Stivason and William Stivason; grandmother of Devan (Greg) Cercone and Chad Parise; and great-grandmother of Maverick Cercone.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Stivason; and siblings, Norman Gordon and Dorothy Dellan.

The family would like to thank her “river family and friends,” all the visiting nurses, aides and her caregiver Connie.

STIVASON — Services for Ruth Stivason, who died Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A celebration of life service will be announced in the spring.
