Jake's post

I don't want to start a debate on abortion but I agree with you Jake. Thank you for your post. I am the mother of a young daughter and recently suffered the loss of my second daughter. She was stillborn. We went to the 20 week sonogram and there was no amniotic fluid around the baby. We were told that she was a nonviable fetus. We were given three choices. None of them were good. None of them included me holding a healthy baby at the end. The choices were: One, induce labor and have our little girl alive and that she would probably die on her first breath. Two, have the pregnancy terminated and never know her sex or see her. Three, wait for her to die in-utero. My husband and I opted for the third. I am Catholic and my dr. advised us that this was very dangerous due to the high risk of infection. We felt that she served a purpose and was created for a reason. I waited 8 days and she died in-utero. My labor started immediately and I had her. Now that I look back, I am glad I got to meet her, hold her, see her and baptize her. There is no one that can tell me she wasn't human. She was perfect...Ten fingers, ten toes, looked so much like my other daughter and no chromosomal abnormalities. My body failed her. She didn't fail me. She didn't deserve to be terminated and I'm glad we didn't. They treated me for infection, just in case, the day I delivered her since my water was broken for over a week. Needless to say, I am pregnant again and I would never make the decision to terminate whether it was for my health or because the baby wasn't "perfect." I choose to have my children period...Children are a gift whether they are from God or from "nature." God Bless anyone who has to go through what my husband and I did. I pray for these mothers every single day.
