Gail Paserba was recently installed as state treasurer of the General Federation of Women's Clubs in Pennsylvania.

As state treasurer, she will handle the finances of GFWC-PA, who oversees the activities of over 100 women's clubs in the state.

Paserba has been a state board member since 1998. Most recently she served as the state president's project chairman focusing on organ donation awareness.

As a result of her work, she attended the "Women's Summit on Organ Donation" at the invitation of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson. She also served the State Federation as International Affairs chairman and Southwestern District Leadership chairman.

She is a six-year member of the Intermediate League of Butler. A member of the club's executive board since 2000, she has worked on the child safety seat, reports and cookbook committees.

Paserba is the founding member and past president of the GFWC Butler County Circle of Presidents. The club's mission is to promote Women's club projects in Butler County and to support the Maridon Museum. Through the club, she also founded a community service club at Butler Junior High School.

A 10-year member of the Junior Women's Club of Butler, she served as president from 1995-96 and also held the offices of first and second vice president. She chaired the club's annual Holly Berry fund-raising event and chaired/served on many committees including community service, membership, friendship/social and reports.

Paserba served as president of the Butler County Federation of Women's Clubs from 1996-98 and has been an executive board member since 1995. She has served the GFWC Southwestern District since 1995 as chairman of the credentials, seating and arts division committees.

In addition to her work within the federation, Paserba also belongs to Soroptimist International of Butler County, where she currently serves as treasurer. She was also treasurer of the National Association of Women in Construction and is a member of the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association.

Paserba received the Bolingbrook Jaycees' Distinguished Serviced Award in 1986.

A graduate of Slippery Rock University, she has worked several years in the field of social services. She is currently the controller for the engineering firm of International Quality Consultants, Inc.

She resides in Butler Township with her husband, Tom Paserba. She has two grown children.

The Butler County Association for the Blind recently held its third charity auction. The event raised $8,066.68 for the organization.

Winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club game, held Sept. 16, were: Nicholas Tredennick and Robert Freemon, Donald Toyand Cleman Rosenberger, Lorraine Worsley and Nancy Welshand Polly Black and Alan Martin.

Farmers National Bank of Emlenton has donated $10,000 to Clarion University for the second consecutive year, according to a university news release.The donation, which brings the bank's two-year commitment to $20,000, helps support kindergarten through 12th grade education programs at the university.In making the donation, the bank is taking advantage of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program, which offers tax credits against several Pennsylvania business taxes.
