Clinton Township investigating missing money
CLINTON TWP — Butler state police are investigating why nearly $6,000 is missing from township coffers.
The supervisors on March 15 ratified the firing of township secretary/zoning officer Maggie Nelson. She could not be reached for comment.
Supervisor Kathy Allen, board chairman, referred questions to township solicitor Mike Gallagher.
According to Gallagher, the township auditors found an irregularity in the books on March 3. The township supervisors on March 4 fired Nelson.
Police were then notified. District Attorney Richard Goldinger said no charges have been filed.
Nelson, who also is a Clinton resident, was a township employee for more than 10 years. For the last eight years, she was the full-time secretary.
