Plunkard aids Chatham PAC playoff run
TRAFFORD — Butler graduate and Chatham University frehman Ava Plunkard tallied 15 assists in helping the Cougars defeat Washington & Jefferson, 3-0, in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference women’s volleyball semifinals on Thursday.
Chatham will face Bethany for the PAC title on Saturday night in Pittsburgh.
KC’s Sherwin named D-9 Coach of Year
Karns City’s Joe Sherwin has been named District 9, Region 1 Football Coach of the Year.
Sherwin and his staff held the team together following the horrific injury to quarterback Mason Martin early in the season. The Gremlins reached the District 9 playoffs before losing a heartbreaker to Brookville, 42-41. KC was 5-6 overall this season.
Making All-Region 1 for Karns City are offensive lineman Sean Slaughenhoupt, fullback Hunter Scherer, running back Luke Cramer and defensive end Mason Bell. Zach Kelly and Martin made honorable mention as athletes.
Moniteau honorees are defensive end Jayden Keene, linebacker Logan Campbell and punter Ashton Grossman.
Union/A-C Valley Region 2 all-stars are running back-cornerback Owen Bish, receiver Trey Fleming, defensive end Colbin Elliott, linebacker Luke Wilson and cornerback Brody Dittman. Offensive lineman Zander Laughlin made honorable mention.
