YORK — The economy is affecting the Keystone State Summer Games.

Owen Costello, the president and CEO of the nonprofit Keystone State Games, says eight sports will be eliminated from this year's program. They include baton twirling, beach volleyball, disc golf, golf, female lacrosse, firearms shooting, sled hockey and beach wrestling.

In addition, sports and operations director David Farrand says six sports will be dropped from the Senior Games: cycling, casting, golf, racquetball, table tennis and men's volleyball.

Costello and Farrand say the 14 sports have attracted little participation. In addition, state funding for the Keystone Games has been eliminated in the budget proposal.
