Bernice M. Purvis, 91, of Harmony, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, while under the care of Magnolia Place.

Born March 1, 1932, in Portersville, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Thomas) Bintrim.

Bernice married the late James R. Purvis on Nov. 8, 1952. They enjoyed 69 years of marriage together. Bernice was a very active woman who was deeply involved in her church and community. Her favorite activity was walking, which she did twice a day, and she was nicknamed “the Walker.” She also enjoyed reading, bowling, gardening and camping. She was a cherished member of the Harmony-Zelienople Methodist Church, as well as a member of the Keenagers Club of the Portersville Presbyterian Church. She also participated in the Meals on Wheels program with her late husband.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Purvis, his wife, Caroline; her grandchildren, Mandy Fox and her husband, Heath, Hope Taylor and her husband, Cory, Crystal Shultz, Cody Purvis and his partner, Toni, and Ryan Purvis; and her six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernice was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Purvis.

PURVIS — Friends of Bernice M. Purvis, who died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with Pastor Dan Owen officiating.
