Harry Clifford Palmer Jr., 94, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at Lowrie Place.

He was born on Aug. 1, 1929, in Cokeville, Pa., to the late Harry Palmer Sr. and the late Clare (McLaughlin) Palmer.

Harry proudly served in the U.S. Navy in both World War II and Korea as a machinist mate aboard the USS Midway.

Harry was a member of St. John's Reformed Church and was previously a member of the former Bethany United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Butler Victory Lodge 272 F&AM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of New Castle, Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, Butler Caravan 14, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and Butler County Pilots Association; a founding member of the Moraine Flying Club and Butler Farm Show Association; and a life member of the Summit Township Sportsman Club and 60 Plus Bowling League.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Jane (Bauer) Palmer, whom he married on Aug. 21, 1950; two sons, Ronald (Deborah) Palmer and Jay (Kim) Palmer; one daughter, Carol (Jeffrey) King; six grandchildren, Daniel (Lynette) Palmer, Nichole Palmer-Cossu, Brian (Lydia) King, Lorie Beth King, Jason Palmer and Jacob Palmer; two great-grandchildren, Logan King and Carmon King; and one sister, Dolores (John) DiMarco. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

PALMER — Friends of Harry Clifford Palmer Jr., who died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A military service with full honors will be conducted immediately following at 3 p.m., with a funeral service being held afterward with Pastor Jarrod Crawford and Pastor Andrew Pepe officiating.

A private interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to a veteran's organization of the donor’s choice.
