SAFETY TIPSEveryone knows that you should wear a helmet, use front and rear lights at night and follow traffic laws. But bicyclesafe.com has these other tips:• Wear bright clothes even during the day; get a rear-view mirror• Travel on wide roads or roads where traffic moves slowly• In city or suburban riding, avoid hugging the right side of the road. Cars pulling out from the right can see you better when you are closer to the center of the lane, and you will avoid the risk of hitting a parked car's open door• Slow down and yell/ring a bell if a motorist coming the opposite way is turning left or a car is waiting to pull out on the right• Never pass vehicle or cyclist on the right; they may be turn right• At a red light, wait behind a vehicle instead of immediately to the right of the vehicle, which would be the motorist's blind spot• Do not travel on sidewalks. Motorists cannot see you when you cross intersections, and it threatens pedestrians• Do not travel on the left side of the street. Go with traffic.
