Molestation charges filed

Man accused in incident from 20 years ago

A former Penn Township man stands accused of sexually assaulting a young boy — 20 years ago.

Court records say the allegations waged against 48-year-old Kurt E. Wolf surfaced this spring when a state police trooper was investigating an allegation that Wolf assaulted a child who is currently 4 years old.

There are no charges relating to the 4-year-old pending against Wolf, and the investigating trooper could not be reached for comment.

However, court records say a now 27-year-old man told the investigator that when he found out about the child’s allegations, “he knew he had to act. He told me that he has been living with this for years and wanted everyone to know that (Wolf) molested him when he was a child. He was in fear for (the 4-year-old) and any other child that may have had contact with (Wolf).”

The man alleges Wolf forced him to watch and perform sex acts in 1993 and 1994. The assaults reportedly took place in the Wolfs’ home, which was then in the Port-O-Call trailer park in Penn Township, as well as a hunting camp in Tionesta, Forest County.

The man told investigators that he recalled talking to a church counselor about the assaults when they were occurring, court records say.

According to court records, police contacted that counselor who said she recalled the man’s mother telling her that Wolf was assaulting her son in 1994. The counselor said she believed Butler County Children and Youth Services was made aware of the allegations at that time.

Then, court records say, a different man told the trooper that the day after the church counselor was interviewed Wolf confided in him that he “did things” to the alleged victim, according to court records.

Assistant District Attorney B.T. Fullerton, who is prosecuting the case, declined to comment on the details.

However, Fullerton said the statute of limitations for filing these charges is 50 years beyond the time the child victim turns 18.

Wolf is charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault, child endangerment and corruption of minors.

His preliminary hearing is Tuesday in the Saxonburg office of District Judge Sue Haggerty. Meantime, he is the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bail.

Although Wolf as recently as January listed a Butler County address, records in this case list his address and telephone number as unknown and a defense attorney is not identified.
