Boy hurt in scooter accident
BUFFALO TWP — A 16-year-old boy was hurt Saturday morning when his foot scooter hit a car on Fleming Road, authorities said.
The boy, whose name was not available, was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with road rash-type injuries to his face, shoulder and back. The injuries were not considered serious, according to Mike George, assistant chief for the Sarver Volunteer Fire Department.
The youth was riding the aluminum scooter out of a neighbor’s driveway about 10:45 a.m. when he hit a car going by, George said.
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was knocked down but never lost consciousness. He was seated in a chair in his parents’ yard when rescuers got there.
A Saxonburg Ambulance crew tended to him before he was taken to Children’s Hospital.
