Fire damages Clinton home
CLINTON TWP — No one was injured Tuesday morning when a bookcase in the living room of a home at 123 Cherry Valley Road caught fire, drawing five volunteer fire companies to the scene and sending a family cat to the veterinarian.
Chris Dean, the assistant chief of Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department, said the cause of the fire, which was reported about 10:30 a.m. by a homeowner returning from breakfast, was not immediately known.
Dean said firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire in the living room. No one was at home when the fire began, Dean said, and the home had heat damage as well as smoke damage to its interior and exterior.
There was no immediate damage estimate.
Dean said a single cat was removed from the home and taken to a veterinarian’s office. It was alive when it was removed from the home.
Firefighters from Saxonburg, Middlesex, West Deer, Sarver and Buffalo Township volunteer fire departments responded to the fire in the home in the back of a cluster of houses on Cherry Valley Road.
No other buildings were damaged.
