Butler Church of the NazareneMusic for the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will be provided by the Vonda Mishler and the Rev. Barry Mohney. Children's church will be directed by Pam Calhoon and Children's Bible Quizzing by Linda Brown.Family Day at Kennywood will be held on Friday. Covenant PresbyThe Summer Festival variety show and food fest will be held from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Aug. 19 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. Entertainment will be directed by Dee Demby and food will be prepared by George Schroth. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will benefit the community dinners hosted at the church on the last Wednesday of each month.Darla Peterson will provide music for the 10 a.m. Sunday service.The Rev. First BaptistThe Berean Sunday school class of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will participate in a corn and hot dog social at 6 p.m. Friday at the home of Earl and Lena Sarvey.An all-church sporting clay shoot is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Castlewood Rod and Gun Club. Church attendees (men, women and boys age 12 and older) and friends are invited. Each participant is to bring a shotgun (pump, semi or double) and 100 rounds of shells. The $35 entry fee will cover the cost of lunch, 100 rounds of birds and door prizes.
First U.M.The first of the annual tailgate parties at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday in Epworth Center.Afree Christian/country music concert will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in the Butler Sr. High School Auditorium.
