Fred and Ruth Kriess

Fred and Ruth Kriess of Butler celebrated 60 years of marriage with a surprise family picnic at the residence of their daughter Kathy Johns in Renfrew.

Kriess married the former Ruth Kirker on Oct. 4, 1949, at Grace Reformed Church in Harmony.

They have three children, Fred Kriess of Glendale, Ariz., Kathy Kriess Johns of Renfrew and Tracy Kriess of Butler.

They also have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kriess is retired from Armco Steel. He is a member of American Legion 778.

Mrs. Kriess is retired from T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil.

The Kriesses are members of St. John's Reformed Church in Meridian.
