Charles R. Sarver

Charles R. Sarver, 79, of Freeport died peacefully at 6 a.m. Wednesday at his home.

Born in Freeport, Jan. 24, 1927, he was the son of James H. and Carrie Coward Sarver.

He was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church.

Mr. Sarver served in the Navy in World War II and in the Air Force in Korea and Vietnam as a staff sergeant for 20 years.

He had been a mixer at PPG Industries in Springdale for 23 years and retired in 1988.

He enjoyed watching sports on TV, particularly Duke basketball, and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Suzanne M. Huth Sarver; two stepdaughters, Kathryn (David) Wesolosky of Freeport and Nancy Probel of Palm Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, William C. Hagins of New Kensington and James T. "Honk" (Nancy) Hagins of Buffalo Township; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

A sister, Margaret Slater of Saxonburg, also survives.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers, Chester, William, Francis, Harry, Matthew, Howard, Thomas, Lloyd, Robert and a brother who died in infancy; and a sister, Sarah Moore.

<B>SARVER </B>— Friends of Charles R. Sarver, who died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2006, will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>REDMOND FUNERAL HOME</B>, 524 High St. Freeport.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. William White, his church pastor, officiating.Burial will be at the Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Freeport International Baseball Invitational, 107 Second St., Freeport, PA 16229.
