'It runs as good today as it ever has'

Jim Wallace and his great grandson, Dean Hershey IIl, stand by Wallace's reliable 1988 Bronco II at his West Sunbury home. Wallace bought the Ford in 1994 with 81,000 miles on it. He's never had a major problem with the Bronco, and had it repainted last fall.

Jim Wallace of West Sunbury is so confident in his 1988 Ford Bronco II that last fall he invested in a new paint job.

"It runs as good today as it ever has," said Wallace, who bought the Bronco in 1994 with 81,000 miles on it.

Then, Wallace thought the Bronco would be a good vehicle for his commute to and from Slippery Rock University where he was a utility plant operator.

Now, he's four years retired. The vehicle has nearly 250,000 miles on it.

And still Wallace is confident the Bronco has a few good years and easy trips to his camp in Tionesta still under the hood.

Wallace, who puts at least a few miles on his vehicle daily, said he has regularly maintained the Bronco over the years. He has done a good portion of the labor, such as oil changes and tune-ups, himself.

He never had a major problem with the Bronco, and he always buys genuine Ford replacement parts.

Wallace said when he got the Bronco a new paint job last fall, he chose the original color: tan.

"It was in nice shape when I bought it, and it caught my eye," he said. "It's still in really nice shape, and I really like it."
