Jane Allison
Jane E. Allison, 86, of Slippery Rock, Worth Township, passed away at Butler Memorial Hospital, on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023.
She was born in New Castle, on April 4, 1937, to Pearson D. Wright and Lydia Jane Knobloch Wright. She married F. Dale Allison, on Dec. 24, 1957. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2005.
Jane loved her family and took grandmothering to a new level. She greatly enjoyed baking and was self-employed, operating her own bakery, called Janey Allison’s Shop and Bake, until approximately 1992. She then worked briefly at Slippery Rock University in the bakery, before going to Giant Eagle in Slippery Rock and working in the bakery department until retiring about 2004. She was well known in the community for her cake baking and decorating and loved her work.
Jane enjoyed quilting and crocheting and was known for her special work depicting the Last Supper. Her life revolved around her family and particularly her grandchildren. She was a member of Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church later to be called Friendship Parish.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert F. (Wendy Y.) Allison of Slippery Rock, and Douglas D. (Linda L.) Allison of Volant; sister, Carole (the Rev. William) Hunley of New Castle; and grandchildren, Quinton, Whitney, Pierson, Camerin, Leeland and Jessica.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Pearson Wright. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Blain D. Allison.
ALLISON — Friends of Jane E. Allison, who died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Hunley, brother-in-law of Jane, presiding. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.
