George Florian Walter, 82, of Jefferson Township, Butler County, died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, after declining dialysis for kidney failure.

A religious pilgrim, Walter spent much of his life walking around the world as an eye-catching witness for Christianity. When people asked about his destination or purpose, Walter told them he was en route to heaven.

George was the beloved son of the late Florian and Mary Rita Walter; brother of Thomas Walter (Christine) and the late Paul Walter; and uncle of Andrew T. Walter (Kelly), Michael P. Walter, Matthew R. Walter (Alison), Pamela J. Walter and Allison C. Hirsch (Matthew). He is also survived by eight great-nieces and great-nephews.

WALTER — Celebrate the life of George Florian Walter, who died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, with his family and beloved church family from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 923 Saxonburg Blvd., Pittsburgh (Shaler Township) with a Paristasis service to be held at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw.

George respectfully suggested donations be made to Blessed Trinity Academy, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw PA 15116.
