Police: Butler man accused of cutting girl with pocketknife

An altercation in Father Marinaro Park left a woman with a knife wound and resulted in a felony charge against a Butler man, according to city police.

Dalton J. Anthony, 21, was charged with felony aggravated assault after a Sept. 9 incident in the park involving several others, documents showed.

Police said they were dispatched to the park at 12:32 a.m. for a report of an altercation involving six to seven people. When officers arrived, documents said no one was in the park.

At 3:30 a.m., Butler Memorial Hospital told police that an 18-year-old woman had arrived in their care with a laceration on her right knee related to the incident at the park. Documents showed that the laceration was from a knife and required five stitches.

Police said the woman disclosed that she was in Father Marinaro Park when a group approached her and shoved her to the ground.

Documents showed a male in the group, later identified as Anthony, reportedly stepped on the woman’s hand and cut her knee with a pocketknife.

Anthony was placed in Butler County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail on Sept. 11. His preliminary hearing before District Judge William Fullerton is scheduled for Sept. 25.
