SAN ANTONIO — Justin Leonard won the Texas Open for the third time Sunday, beating Jesper Parnevik with a 10-foot birdie putt on the third hole of a playoff.

Leonard, also the 2000 and '01 winner at LaCantera Golf Club Resort Course, closed with a 5-under 65 to match Parnevik at 19-under 261. Parnevik, who opened with a 61 and led after each of the first three rounds, finished with a 69.

DANVILLE, Calif. — Suzann Pettersen put her name above top-ranked Lorena Ochoa's at long last, sinking a birdie putt from about 6 feet on the second playoff hole to win the Longs Drugs Challenge.Pettersen, who began the day with a bogey, watched as Ochoa just missed a long putt from more than 20 feet before calmly making the winner and pumping her fist several times. They both birdied the first playoff hole, with Ochoa make an 18-footer.

SHANGHAI, China — Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari won the Chinese Grand Prix as McLaren's Lewis Hamilton missed his chance to clinch the drivers' title by running off the track while entering the pits.Fernando Alonso of McLaren was second with Felipe Massa of Ferrari third.The championship will now go down to the final race in Brazil on Oct. 21 with three drivers capable of winning the title.

NEW YORK — LSU was a unanimous choice for the top spot in The Associated Press' latest rankings, receiving all 65 first-place from the media panel. The last unanimous No. 1 during the regular season was Ohio State in December.LSU is one of just four teams that started the season ranked in the top 10 and remain there. The others are No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 8 West Virginia and No. 10 Southern California, which became the latest team to take a tumble after a startling loss to an unranked opponent.

CHICAGO — In a race run in scorching heat that left one man dead, Kenya's Patrick Ivuti won the Chicago Marathon by a fraction of a second. Ivuti leaned at the finish line to edge Jaouad Gharib of Morocco by 0.05 seconds.The 88-degree heat and sweltering humidity prompted organizers to shut down the second half of the course four hours after the start. At least 49 runners were taken to hospitals and another 250 were treated at the site. Chad Schieber of Midland, Mich., 35, collapsed while running on the South Side and was pronounced dead shortly before 1 p.m. at a local hospital.
