Mitchell G. "Mitch" Uram, 87, formerly of Woodrow Street in Lyndora and the Lowrie House in Butler died Saturday at Sunnyview Home.

Born April 20, 1919, in Lyndora, he was a son of Wallace and Susan Prexta Uram.

He was a 1938 graduate of Butler High School.

Prior to World War II, he was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked in forestry near Sligo and in Deep Creek, Md., and other C.C.C. sites.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII from June 1942 through November 1945. He was a member of the Michael Kosar American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

Mr. Uram retired from the tractor repair shop at Armco-Butler Works after 41 years.

He was a charter member of the Armco Golf Club and was a member of the Highfield Hall Golf League and the Highfield Community Center.

He was well known for his woodwork, especially his chiming clocks that he made for all his children, grandchildren and his extended family. He was also known for his copper tin foiling and crafting.

Mr. Uram was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora. He also was a member of the men's club and an usher at his church for many years.

Surviving are a son, Dennis M. Uram and his wife, Elaine, of Salem, Mass.; two daughters, Janet Stetzer and her husband, Ronald "Dick" and Susan Brock and her husband, John E., all of Butler; a brother, William Uram of Lyndora; and two sisters, Marie Maxim of Butler and Helen Grystar of Lyndora.

He also is survived by nine grandchildren: David R. Stetzer and his wife, Maria, of Las Vegas, Nev., Maria Leslie and her husband, Gregory, of O'Fallen, Mo., Laura Jo Whitney and her husband, Mark, of Meadville, John M. Brock and Anne Marie Brock, both of Butler, Charles Mustake of Negley, Ohio, Wendy Frantz and her husband, Robert, of Kinsman, Ohio, and Edward and Randy Mustake, both of Salem, Mass.; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His wife, Susan Protch Uram, whom he married Aug. 30, 1943, died May 18, 2004. Two brothers, Nicholas and John Uram, also preceded him in death.

<B>URAM </B>— Friends of Mitchell G. "Mitch" Uram, who died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora with the Rev. Dennis Bogda officiating.Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Butler County Memorial Park, Butler Township.Members of American Legion Post 778 will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.Parastas services will be at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.Military honors will be accorded by members of the American Legion and the VFW ceremonial squad at the cemetery.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
