Richard L. "Dick" Post, 77, of Butler died Tuesday in the emergency room at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 27, 1929, in Sarver, he was a son of William and Mary Olive Cypher Post.

He had worked for the Braun Baking Co. in Butler until his retirement in 1991. Prior to that he worked for the Ramsey Dairy in Center Township and had been a bus driver for Butler for years.

Mr. Post was a member of the former St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, where he was a Eucharistic minister. He was a current member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Lyndora. He also was a member of the VFW Post 249 of Butler, the French and Belgium Golf League, and the Teamsters Union Local 485.

He enjoyed golfing, reading, walking at the Clearview Mall and having coffee with his friends at the Clearview Arby's restaurant every morning.

During the Korean War, he served in the Army.

He is survived by his wife, Alice E. Zang Post, whom he married Sept. 19, 1950; two daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Patricia) Faber of Evans City and Mrs. Robert (Kathleen) McChesney of Renfrew; a son, Jeffrey C. Post of Butler; two sisters, Shirley Thompson of Germantown, Md., and Mrs. Craig (Nancy) Daugherty of Butler; and two stepbrothers, Ronald Post of Texas, and Larry Post of Tuscon, Ariz.

He also is survived by three grandchildren, Steve and Megan McChesney and Alyson Faber.

He was preceded in death by a son, William J. Post, who died Feb. 24, 2007.

Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 303 Penn Ave., Lyndora. The Rev George Palick will officiate.
