Delmar L. 'Monk' Fair
Delmar L. "Monk" Fair, 73, of North Duffy Road died Friday at UPMC Montifiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Aug. 11, 1934, in Butler, he was the son of Thomas E. and Nellie Brewster Fair.
He was a graduate of Butler High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was retired from the construction department at the former Pullman-Standard Car Co. in Butler, where he worked for 20 years until the company closed.
He was a Lutheran.
He was a member of the French and Belgium Club in Butler and American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.
As a younger man he was a well known baseball and softball player in the Butler area.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel L. and Randall L. Fair, both of Butler; a daughter, Lori L. Walker of Butler; two brothers, Benjamin and Thomas "Wendell" Fair, both of Butler; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
<B>FAIR</B> — Friends of Delmar L. "Monk" Fair, who died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Huhn, visitation pastor of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mr. Chestnut Cemetery.
