Kovalchick

George A. Kovalchick, 88, of East Butler died Tuesday at his home.

Born Jan. 24, 1920, in Sagamore, he was a son of Nicholas and Anna Pachen Kovalchick

He was a self-employed salvage contractor, and he and his twin brother owned and operated Kovalchick Supply Co. for 35 years until his retirement in 1990.

Mr. Kovalchick was a World War II Army veteran.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.

He was an avid gardener and an animal lover.

His wife, Frances Zbuckvich Kovalchick, who he married June 27, 1942, survives. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Georgiann (Francis) Maitland of Butler, Mrs. Carolyn (Jack) Kovalchick-Wilkinson of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Frances (John) Vissari and Karen Kovalchick, both of Butler, and Stephanie Ragan of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, George G. Kovalchick of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Helen Place of Rhode Island; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An infant son, George Stephen Kovalchick; four brothers, John "Bouncey," Nick, Joseph and Michael Kovalchick; his twin brother, Andrew Kovalchick; and three sisters, Anna Fedock, Mary Kovalchick and Veronica McKee, preceded him in death.

<B>KOVALCHICK </B>— Friends of George A. Kovalchick, who died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Bogda officiating.
