Andrew J. Maksanty
Andrew J. Maksanty, 93, of Butler passed away Monday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Lyndora, March 18, 1916, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Kutchek Maksanty.
He was retired from Butler Armco after 45 years.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Lyndora, the VFW Post 249 and the American Legion Post 117.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan.
He is survived by one son, Richard T. Maksanty of Butler; two daughters, Mary Ann Maksanty Schnitzki and her husband, Dan, of Butler and Angela Maksanty of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella M. Aquilino Maksanty, who passed away Sept. 28, 1995; three brothers; and one sister.
<B>MAKSANTY</B> — Friends of Andrew J. Maksanty, who died Monday, May 4, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the <B>Martin Funeral Home</B>, 429 Center Ave., Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, Lyndora. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. A parish vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.Members of VFW Post 249 and American Legion Post 778 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home for a memorial service.Information also is available at www.martinfh.net.
