Harter

E. Dean Harter, 75, of Butler, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Thursday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 8, 1934, in Evans City, the son of the late James Frances Harter and the late Fern (Rape) Harter.

He was a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lodge 729 Mars, Pittsburgh Scottish Rite, Syria Temple, Butler Shrine Caravan 14, NACO 19, Harmony Moose, Evans City VFW and Lyndora Legion.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He loved growing gladiolas and farming.

Surviving are his sisters, Ruth Noah of Harmony, Mrs. Wolfgang (Mary Ann) Heimer of San Diego; a brother, Dale W. Harter of Butler; friend and caretaker, Nancy Jane Oesterling; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy M. (Lang) Harter, who died May 18, 2005, and three brothers.

<B>Harter</B> — Friends of E. Dean Harter, who died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at <B>Young Funeral Home Ltd.</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with services at 11 a.m. Monday, with his pastor, Rev.
