Sarvey 100th birthday

Marlin D. Sarvey

Marlin D. Sarvey of Prospect will celebrate his 100th birthday with a family dinner at the United Presbyterian Church of Prospect.

Sarvey was born March 24, 1918, in Hawthorn. He married the former Myrtle Wolfe Sept. 24, 1940, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Butler. They were married 76 years before her death in 2017.

He has five children, Marlin F. (Judy) Sarvey of Prospect, Shirley Bilowich of Butler, Peggy Goehring of Evans City, Ruth Fisher of West Liberty and Tammy (Don) Stewart of West Sunbury.

He also has 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In the late 1940s, Sarvey started Sarvey Plumbing and Heating of Prospect and operated the business until his retirement at age 65.

Before starting his business, he served in the U.S. Navy, was a roofer, worked at Pullman, cut coal mine props, delivered coal and delivered the Butler Eagle.

Sarvey is a member of the Emmanuel Church of Prospect.

He also is a lifetime member of Prospect Volunteer Fire Department.

Sarvey is a member of Victory Lodge 694, Lorraine Commandery 87, Butler Council 61 and Butler Royal Arch Chapter 273.

He loves gardening, mowing the lawn and tinkering in his garage.

With his late wife he enjoyed motor home trips, dancing, boating and bowling.
