Willard D. Harter, 81, of Evans City died Friday at the Evergreen Nursing Center in Harmony.

Born Feb. 20, 1928, in Harmony, he was a son of the late James and Fern Rape Harter.

Mr. Harter was a veteran of the Army and National Guard. He enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Merry Ann McCurdy Harter; four daughters, Judy Bandsma and her husband, Leo, of South Carolina, Bonnie Bowers of Valencia, Cathy Davison and her husband, Fran, of Harmony, and Joyann Shipp of Florida; three stepchildren, Scott Matz and his wife, Lauren, of Renfrew, Kimberly Matz of Zelienople and Todd Matz and his wife, Sabina, of California; two brothers, Dale and his wife, Helen, of Butler and Dean of Butler; two sisters, Ruth of Harmony and Mary of California; and seven grandchildren, Robert, Angela, Thomas, Megan, Harley, Patrick and Beth. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Harter was preceded in death by his former wife, Goldie Purvis Harter; two brothers, Edwin and Ralph; and two grandchildren, Julie Davison and Bryan Matz.
