Roenigk

Hazel A. Roenigk, 93, of Cabot, died Thursday at Saxony Health Center.

Born July 27, 1916, in Winfield Township, she was the daughter of William H. "Harry" Montgomery and Anna C. Stepp Montgomery.

She was a 1934 graduate of Freeport High School.

She had worked at the Schenley Distillery as tax collector for 24 years and notary for more than 20 years in Winfield Township.

She was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where she was the oldest member and an elder, the Saxonburg Women's Club and a 4-H Club leader in Winfield Township.

She loved to sew, crochet, knit and make hats using pheasant feathers donated by local hunters.

Surviving are her children, Virginia R. (Donald) Shirey of Sarver, William P. (Maureen) Roenigk of Davidsonville, Md., Howard L. "Bud" (Karyn) Roenigk of Cabot, J. Richard (Deborah) Roenigk of York, Pa., Glenn D. (Linda) Roenigk of New Freedom, Pa., and Marijane E. "MJ" (Joseph) Dillon of Erie; her brother, W. Glenn Montgomery of Sarver; two half-sisters, Elsie (Donald) Hinderliter of Sarver and Mary Lou McElhinny of Evans City; 16 grandchildren, Gina (Mark) Shirey-Potts, Jonathan (Casey) Shirey, JoAnna (Paul) Halenda, Michael (Kim) Roenigk, Kevin (Donna) Roenigk, Devin (Kimmie) Roenigk, Cory (Cindi) Roenigk, Ryan (Lindsey) Roenigk, Ashlee Roenigk, Landon Roenigk, Lauralee Roenigk, Sarah Roenigk, Amanda (Andrew) Fabian, Timothy Roenigk, Paul "PJ" Dillon and Rachel Dillon; 16 great-grandchildren; and one cousin, James (Helen) Riddle, who is the son of the aunt and uncle who raised Helen, of Sarver.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul G.W. Roenigk, on Feb. 23, 1985; one grandson, Edward Dillon; one great-granddaughter; and two brothers, Charles L. and R. Clarke Montgomery.

<B>ROENIGK</B> — Friends of Hazel A. Roenigk, who died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the <B>Fox Funeral Home</B>, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Mary Marks King officiating.
