Guy E. “Butch” Schnur, 72, of Butler died early Friday morning at UPMC Passavant Hospital, North Hills.

He was born in Butler on Feb. 27, 1941, a son of the late Floyd Sr. and Ora Grenet Schnur.

Butch was retired as a truck diver for Marmon Keystone Corporation, where he had worked for over 25 years. He continued as a school bus driver for Valley Lines for 13 years until his illness.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served in Germany with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a former member of the American Legion Post 117 in Butler and the United Steelworkers Union.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gisela Fischer Schnur, and they had celebrated their 50th anniversary on May 24; threechildren, Ralph (Mary) Schnur of Meridian, Christine Titley of Butler and Kimmy (Eleazar) Bengoa of Texas; 12 loving grandchildren, Taylor, Anna, Zachary, Jared, Thomas, Hannah, Ashlyn, McKenna, Naomi, Marcus, Lauren and Katlin; fourbrothers, Larry J. (Carol) Schnur, James (Leslie) Schnur, Jeffery (Pam) Schnur, all of Butler, and Douglas (Sissy) Schnur of Chicora; threesisters, Carol Leasure of New Castle, Debbie Madden of Cranberry Township and Sherri (Mickey) Uram of Butler; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews,

He was preceded in death by onebrother, Floyd “Bud” Schnur Jr.

SCHNUR — Friends of Guy E. “Butch” Schnur, who died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday.A private service with military honors will be held for his family Monday with burial at Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, his family suggests Memorial be made to the American Cancer Society.
