Betty J. Hemphill, 83, of 605 Saxonburg Road died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday at UPMC Passavant, North Hills.

Born Nov. 11, 1923, in Clarion County, she was the daughter of Leroy Parks and Gertrude Corson.

Mrs. Hemphill was a homemaker and enjoyed weaving.

Her husband, James R. Hemphill, whom she married on Nov. 17, 1945, died May 14, 2006.

She is survived by a daughter, Anita Hemphill of Butler, three sons, Eric Hemphill of Seattle, Wash., Rodney Hemphill of San Francisco, and Ned Hemphill of Butler; and five grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Leland Parks of Ridgway, Elk County; a sister, June Pollard of Kittanning; four nieces, and three nephews.
