Vidmar

Paul R. Vidmar, 80, of Sarver, formerly of Saxonburg, died Friday at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot, following a short illness.

Born Feb. 10, 1929, in Sharon, he was the son of the late Paul M. and Anna M. Vidmar of Blanchard.

He was an accomplished baseball and football player and coach.

Paul served in the Army during the Korean War and was a trumpet player in the Army band. A retired steelworker from the U.S. Steel Corp. in Saxonburg, Paul was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoyed dancing polkas, fishing and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Vidmar McCarthy of Bethlehem, Pa., and Margie Vidmar Cattley (Anthony) Arnone of Lower Burrell; a son, Paul M. (Jacquelynn) Vidmar of Butler; a loving companion, Stella Tantlinger of Tarentum; three sisters, Stella Hughes of Sharpsburg, Virginia Radish of Harwick and Irma Downing of Cheswick; a brother, Harry Vidmar of Cheswick; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Julie Vencenie of Millvale; a former wife, Lillian Lisco Vidmar; and a great-grandson, Joseph Dylan.

<B>VIDMAR</B> — There will be no public visitation for Paul R. Vidmar, who died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010.
