Day care may be built

Vote on permit set Thursday

CRANBERRY TWP — A new day care could be coming to the intersection of North Boundary and Marshall roads.

Ron Henshaw, the director of community development for the township, said Monday that the business would be the Kiddie Academy, which is a national child care franchise.

The franchise owner, who is a township resident, recently applied for a land development permit. The township supervisors are expected to vote on that permit Thursday.

If approved, the day care would be built on 4 acres abutting Interstate 79 in a single-story 10,500 square-foot building. The building would be brick.

Henshaw said he’s been in talks with the applicant since April.

The day care would be a good fit for the neighborhood, Henshaw said, because it would help provide a transition between Marshall Road’s commercial and residential areas.

“We think the day care fits right in with the neighborhood,” Henshaw said. “The building fits in very nicely in keeping with a residential neighborhood feel.”
