Fire destroys garage in Buffalo Twp.
BUFFALO TWP — Firefighters stopped a garage blaze from spreading to a house on Kepple Road on Tuesday night.
Chief Matt Cypher of the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Company said a wood burner was being used to heat the wooden single-stall garage at 327 Kepple Road while a hot rod was being restored.
Cypher said the owners, who are listed as Laszlo and Joanne Vesztergom in Butler County property records, spotted the fire and called 911.
Crews extinguished the fire before it could reach the mobile home, which is within 15 feet of the garage.
The garage and car were destroyed.
Cypher estimated damages total $25,000. The owners are not insured.
Roughly 40 firefighters responded to the 8:26 p.m. 911 call. The Sarver, Saxonburg and Winfield volunteer fire departments assisted Buffalo.
Crews cleared the scene at 9:57 p.m.
