BUTLER TWP — An airborne motorcycle Wednesday night crashed into the side of a house on Old Plank Road, injuring the 25-year-old driver.

Jacob B. Pflugh of Butler was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital after he lost control of his racing-style bike about 9:40 p.m. and hit the home.

The extent of his injuries was not known this morning.

Butler Township police said Pflugh was traveling north on Old Plank Road when his Suzuki GSXR600 went off the left side of the road. The bike hit an embankment in the front lawn at 82 Old Plank Road.

The crash sent the motorcycle into the air and into the side of the house, apparently leaving at least two gouge marks on the side of the house.

One of those marks was about 6 feet off the ground.

A motorist told investigators he saw Pflugh pass him at a “very high rate of speed” moments before the wreck, according to a police report.

South Butler volunteer firefighters and a Butler Ambulance Service crew responded and tended to the injured man. The police report did not say if he was wearing a helmet or if anyone was home.

Pflugh was taken to the South Butler fire station, where a STAT MedEvac helicopter landed before flying him to the unspecified hospital.

The wreck closed Old Plank Road for about an hour.

Police said charges against Pflugh are pending their ongoing investigation.
