Davis 90th birthday
James Davis Sr. of Center Township celebrated his 90th birthday with more than 125 family and friends at an open house at American Legion Post 117 in Butler.
Davis was born March 23, 1920, in Sarver. He married the former Maxine Schaffner on July 24, 1947. She is deceased.
Davis has five children, Richard Davis of Wadsworth, Ohio, James "Rip" Davis Jr. of Meridian, Jacqueline Hamilton of Sacramento, Calif., Carla Hunt of Davis, Calif., and Paula Grubbs of Penn Township.
He also has 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Davis retired from Armco in 1981 after 42 years of service, the latest as a foreman in the inspection department.
He is a veteran of World War II, having served with the 8th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps., in the European Theater of Operations.
Davis served as an umpire for various baseball leagues around the county and is a past president of Unionville/Center Township Volunteer Fire Dept.
Davis is a member of American Legion Post 117 and VFW Post 249, both in Butler.
He enjoys golfing, his camp in Forest County and spending time with family and friends.
Davis is a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church.
