Gregory S. Lyon
Gregory S. Lyon, 59, of Butler passed away unexpectedly at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He was born May 22, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Jack W. Lyon Sr. of Cincinnati and the late Elizabeth Louise Lyon.
He served proudly in the U.S. Navy, and at the time of his death, he worked at National Real Estate Information Services in Pittsburgh as a software engineer.
He was married to his wife, Gigi, March 6, 1976; and this marriage was blessed with four children, six counting the two who joined the family voluntarily; and five grandchildren, to whom he was known as “Papa.”
In life, Greg loved to spend much time outdoors working on his house and yard, especially with his boys. He also enjoyed reading and NASCAR and was an avid fan of anything Black ‘n Gold.
Greg was an active member of the First English Lutheran Church in Butler, where he had served as a deacon and church council member.
Greg Lyon is survived by his loving wife, Gigi; four children, Eric (Miranda), JaNae Lyon-Brown and Adam, all of Butler, and Sara Lyon-Gonzales (Rob) of Grand Lake, Colo.; five grandchildren, Hanna and Drew Brown and Amelya, Patryk and Ashlyn Lyon, all of Butler. He also is survived by his father, Jack W. Lyon Sr., and the mother who raised him, Verliss Lyon, and his brother Michael (Michelle) Lyon, all of Cincinnati. He also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and honorary children and grandchildren, all of whom know who they are and those who adopted him as their father.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Lyon; and his brother, Jack Lyon Jr.
<B>LYON</B> — Gregory S. Lyon, who died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, generously donated his body to science in the hope that the research will save someone else.
