Tompkins

Alan Lee Tompkins, 82, of Pikeville, Tenn., passed away Nov. 3, 2022.

Alan served in the Army Reserves as a medic during the Berlin Crisis. He owned and operated A.L. Tompkins Mfg. Co. After moving to North Carolina, he sold auto parts to repair shops. His hobbies included wood-turning, blacksmithing and making violins and banjos.

He loved camping, meeting new friends and riding his motorcycle. He always was willing to help his neighbors, friends and family.

He was survived at the time of death by his wife, Marcia M. Tompkins; his brother, Frederick D. Tompkins; sisters, Cheri (Chuck) Caputo, Alecia (Jack) Matotek, Rebecca Layden, Elizabeth Krenzynski and Amy LeDesma; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, John I. Tompkins and Alice D. Bellis; two brothers, John I. Tompkins Jr. and Robert L. Tompkins; sisters-in-law, Catherine (Geibel) Tompkins and Gail Snyder; and a brother-in-law, Robert Snyder.
