Butler girls volleyball scores win
Behind efforts by Audrey Lehman and Brynn Cornibe — who combined for 30 kills — and Molly Wogan (40 assists), the Butler girls volleyball team downed West Middlesex in three sets Wednesday night.
The Golden Tornado (2-0) claimed the games by scores of 25-20, 25-11, and 25-22. Lehman added nine aces and Cornibe five. The JV team also won, 2-1.
Girls Soccer
Phoebe Brandon netted two goals and helped out with two more as Karns City downed Slippery Rock, 5-1. Bree O’Donnell, Hanna Dailey, and Aubrey Price also scored. Dailey had two assists and Sarah Dodd another.
The Gremlins (2-1) play Deer Lakes at home next Wednesday.
Girls Golf
With a team score of 131, Moniteau won KSAC Mega Match No. 4 at Hi Level Golf Course. A-C Valley finished second with a team score 162.
Mariska Shunk (39), Kendall Sankey (44), and Sammie Smith (48) all scored in the top three for the Warriors. Reagan Best (48) and Ruby Wilson (49) were in the top five for the Falcons.
Fox Chapel 181, Mars 219 — Makenna Myler and Allison Yanief both carded 54s, Addison Pangonis a 55, and Addie Nailler a 56, but the Planets fell short in this match.
Girls Tennis
Kylie Staudt and Sydney Blucher claimed singles matches for Seneca Valley (3-2), which also swept the doubles portion of a Wednesday match against Butler.
The Golden Tornado’s Laini Spohn downed the Raiders’ Lillie McElhinney 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (11-9) for her team’s lone win of the matchup.
Maggie Groves and Cady Shea defeated Amy Waggoner and Olivia Porneluzi — 6-2, 6-1 — in the first duos clash, while Marlee Jones and Lily Wood bested Maggie Bodamer and Sophia Kingsley 6-1, 6-1.
Butler (1-3, 0-2) faces Pine-Richland at home Tuesday.
Pine-Richland 4, Mars 1 — Cece Crowley earned a singles win, but the Planets dropped this match. Mars faces North Allegheny in section play on Tuesday.
