Ronald D. Garris, 75, of Butler passed away Monday at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot following an extended illness.

Born in Butler, April 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Russell and Dorothy Curry Garris.

Ron was a 1952 graduate of Butler High School.

He served with the U.S. Army's 586th Signal Corps from 1956 to 1958.

He was locally employed for 27 years in the grocery business with A&P and retired in 1999 as an electronics technician with BWI Eagle Inc.

He was a lifelong member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Butler, was an avid gardener and greatly enjoyed his grandchildren.

Mr. Garris is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Spencer Garris, whom he married April 2, 1960. Also surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Pamela L. and Daryl Souzer of Sanford, Maine, Tracy J. and Roger Reeb of Centerville, Ohio, and Laura Lee S. and Donald Yasinsky of Butler; six grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Souzer, Adam and Benjamin Reeb and Emily and Alexander Yasinsky; two brothers and their wives, Russell and Opal Garris and Kenneth and Sue Garris, both of Butler; and a sister, Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Nodge of Greensburg, Pa. Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

<B>GARRIS </B>— Friends of Ronald D. Garris, who died Monday, June 15, 2009, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Warren Storm, interim pastor of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.Memorial donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit at Concordia, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
