Dona Lee Schrott
Dona Lee Schrott, adored wife of John (Jack) Schrott and loving mother of John (Lynn), Matthew (Judy), Mark (Lisa) and David (Christine), joined her husband in heaven Thursday afternoon. She is survived by her four sons and their wives; 10 grandchildren, who lovingly call her Muga; four stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; her brother, Sam, and his wife; one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Wanda Abbott, and her beloved husband, Jack, who passed into eternity just 57 hours before her.
Dona was born May 22, 1934, in New Kensington. She graduated from Har-Brack High School in 1952. Early in her life, she was employed by Alcoa Research Labs and PPG Research. Always a hardworking supporter of the Butler community, she went to work for the school district as a food service worker in 1976. There, she served as a union representative until her retirement in 1999.
She married the love of her life on May 18, 1957. They soon moved to Butler, where she and Jack raised their family. Dona was the heart of her warm and loving home, where she baked millions of her famous cookies over the course of her life. She was selfless in all of her interactions and there was never a stranger that walked through her door. She blessed countless people with her uplifting handwritten notes and letters, including weekly letters to her grandkids who were launched into school and careers around the country.
Dona's greatest pleasures were her family, beach vacations and the occasional bus and casino trip. She was also an active member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
