Woman killed in wreck
MARSHALL TOWNSHIP, Allegheny County — Jacqueline M. Maloney, 55, of Cranberry Township was killed today around 12:30 a.m. in an automobile accident on Interstate 79.
Police say Maloney was ejected when her northbound Chevrolet Suburban overturned after she swerved to avoid a deer, leaving her on the road.
A passing vehicle hit her, but did not stop, police said
The accident occurred near Wexford Run Road in Allegheny County.
State police in Pittsburgh have asked that anyone with information regarding the unknown vehicle should call them at 412-787-2000. Maloney was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, police said.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office said it would be performing an autopsy later today.
Maloney lived at 202 Ravenscroft Court with her three daughters. She worked as a salesperson at Mathew Jewelers in Zelienople.
“It’s just a very sad, tragic event,” said Philip Mathew, owner of Mathew Jewelers. “Our prayers are with the family. She was here over 10 years. She will be missed.”
