Mabel F. Uber
Mabel F. Uber, 105, formerly of Butler, died peacefully Thursday at the Fair Winds Manor, Sarver.
Born in Fairview, Centre County, Jan. 11, 1902, she was the daughter of Willis Adam and Cora Jane Shawley Witherite.
She graduated from Connellsville High School and had worked as a bookkeeper.
After marrying, she lived at 618 Center Ave. for more than 50 years.
She was a homemaker, a loving mother and a devoted wife who took care of her family even when her husband was away for six years serving as an executive officer in the Navy during World War II.
Mrs. Uber enjoyed gardening, baking and canning, and was active for many years in the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Fagley of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. Cora Lee Duncan of Tallahassee, Fla., and Mrs. Donald (Betty) Fritz of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a daughter-in-law Christian Uber; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Arthur E. Uber Sr.; and three sons Arthur Edwin Jr., Thomas R. and Paul W. Uber.
UBER — A memorial service for Mabel F. Uber, who died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Fair Winds Manor, 126 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver.Arrangements are being handled by the Herbert R.
