'Sometimes I'll just go for a ride'
Tim Huff said his next car will be a Subaru.
That is because his past three vehicles, all Subarus, have outlived the 250,000 mile mark.
The vehicle Huff is driving now, a white Subaru Outback, was bought new in 2000.
Huff's Outback has about 275,000 miles on it, and he says he doesn't plan to start car shopping again for another year.
Huff, 53, of Connoquenessing Township says the trick to a long-lasting vehicle is picking a good brand and regular vehicle maintenance.
He takes his Outback back to Kerven Subaru in Butler, the dealer from which he bought his vehicle, every 3,000 to 4,000 miles.
He regularly gets the oil changed and whatever maintenance items are needed.
Up until a job change last year, Huff had been using his vehicle to commute to his day job in Natrona Heights. Additionally, he used the car on evening and weekend jaunts as a professional wedding photographer.
Huff said his Outback, which gets about 30 miles per gallon, also has been on its share of pleasure-only road trips.
Huff enjoys traditional archery as a hobby and in the summertime often travels out of state for shoots.
"And sometimes I'll just go for a ride... take some pictures," he said.
