Leo P. Sarteschi, 98, of Butler died early Monday morning at the Sugarcreek Rest home.

He was born in Marwood, Butler County, Nov. 23, 1911, a son of the late Joseph and Angelina Bocchi Sarteschi.

Leo was retired from the Armco Steel Butler plant, where he had worked for more than 30 years. He also had owned and operated Don-Lee Memorials in Butler for many years.

He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and the Sons of Italy Club.

Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Lucille DeFoggi Sarteschi. They married April 19, 1936. Also surviving are a son, Bruce J. Sarteschi and his wife, Dorothea, of Harrisburg; a daughter, Sandra Laconi and her husband, Reggie, of Carmel, Ind.; six grandsons, Dr. Brad Laconi, D.D.S. of Indianapolis, Ind., Bruce Laconi of Zionsville, Ind., Lance Laconi of Carmel, Ind., Joseph Laconi of Woodstock, Ga., and Joseph Sarteschi and Jamison Sarteschi, both of New York City; 11 great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Paige, Nick, Joe, Lexi, Maria, Vincent, Luke, Jacob, Cassidy and Dillon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Geno, Raymond and Michael Sarteschi; and two sisters, Elizabeth Dettore and Gloria Uram.

<B>SARTESCHI </B>— Friends of Leo P. Sarteschi, who died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, will be received from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, where a Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at North Side Cemetery, Butler.Members of the St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will recite the rosary at 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.Arrangements were submitted by <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler, and additional information can be found, and condolence messages placed at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
