Charles J. Fichter Sr.
Charles J. Fichter Sr., 73, of Evans City passed away Tuesday morning at the UPMC Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
Born Nov. 14, 1935, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Howard and Lillian Smith Fichter Sr.
Mr. Fichter was a member of Burry's Church, New Sewickley Township.
He had worked at the Herman Corp., Zelienople, as a production manager for 25 years and retired from Allegheny Metals in the shipping and receiving department after 12 years.
Mr. Fichter was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and loved the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Urban Fichter, whom he married Feb. 27, 1960; two sons, Charles John "Jay" (Rachel) Fichter of Hesston and Bradley Jay "Brad" (Julie) Fichter of Petrolia; a daughter, Mrs. William (Fawn) Thomas of Harmony; seven grandchildren, Jacob, Carrie and Andrew Fichter of Hesston, Logan Cole Thomas of Harmony and Amanda, Megan and Bethany Fichter of Petrolia; and a sister-in-law, Irene Fichter of West View.
<B>FICHTER</B> — Friends and relatives of Charles J. Fichter Sr., who died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>A. Carl KInsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home</B>, 328 W. Main St., Evans City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Thomas Smith and Rev. Mike VanArsdale, his pastors, officiating.
