Raiders golfers snare section title
Andrew Tang shot a 33, and Matt Vogt and John Raymus carded a 37 and 39, respectively, as the Seneca Valley boys golf team captured the Division 1-Section 3 championship with a 191-200 victory over Butler Wednesday at Oakview Golf Club.
It's the first section crown for the Raiders (13-2, 12-2) since 1997.
Dave Roberts added a 40 for SV while Luke Martin carded a 42.
"It was a good round, but I know we can do better," said Raiders coach Steve Mayes. "But considering the change in the weather — we went from 80 degrees to 50 — I'm pleased with this performance heading into the WPIAL semifinals."
Seneca Valley will compete in the WPIAL team playoffs Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.

Knoch 5, Blackhawk 2 — Amanda Sharbaugh scored four goals for the Knights (8-8-1, 7-4), who clinched their fourth consecutive WPIALplayoff berth.Amanda Bartell scored Knoch's other goal, while Patricia Pappas scored twice for Blackhawk.Knoch hosts Highlands Saturday.
