Christ Community U.M.The Youth Group of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will hold a Back to School Bash from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Moraine State Park. Those attending should take swim suits and towels, outdoor games and picnic food. Hot dogs will be provided. Parent drivers and helpers are needed. Youth entering 7th through 12th grade are invited.A Get to Know You gathering will be held Thursday at the Zirnsak home. Covenant PresbyViolinist Amanda Gilliland will provide music for the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The Noisy Offering of loose change will be received during the service.The Covenant Cupboard is requesting donations of spaghetti and spaghetti sauce for August. Donations of ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise are being requested for September. Baskets for the donations are in the East Jefferson Street entrance hallway.

Faith Fellowship AllianceThe Rev. Rob Thrasher of the Mustard Seed Jam House in Greenville will lead the Sunday morning service this week at Faith Fellowship Alliance Church, 200 Faithway-Fared Drive.Following the service, achurch picnic will be held in Fellowship Hall. Participants should take a hot and cold dish to share.The Fall Ministry School kick-off will follow, with programs available for children, youth and adults.There will be no evening service this week.

Faith U.P.The choir of Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext., begins fall rehearsals at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 31. The rehearsal is open to anyone interested joining the choir. The choir will perform at the 10:30 a.m. service Sept. 10.

First BaptistFirst Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will host a get-acquainted night at 7 p.m. today in the Baptist Youth Center. The school administration, faculty, students and parents will participate. Classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.A men's prayer breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Baptist Youth Center.The Kingdom Seekers Sunday school class will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday at Eracers, 640 Evans City Road, for a variety of activities. Apicnic will follow at 5 p.m. at the home of Dave and Peggy Sarvey. There will be a $10 fee at Eracer's, and those attending the picnic should take hot dogs, buns, a dish to share, and lawn chairs.Church attendees will meet after the 6 p.m. Sunday service for an ice cream social in the Baptist Youth Center.The church will conduct a nursing home service from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Sunnyview Home.

First English LutheranAcelebration will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Sunday First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., for the completion of more than 300 prayer shawls.Members are reminded to save Shop 'n' Save receipts to benefit the St. Afterschool program.Volunteers are needed to help with community dinners each Monday.

Hill U.P.Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., will hold it's annual Worship-Without-Walls service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the Carousel Shelter at Alameda Park. The Rev. Clark Sawyer and the Praise Team Band will lead the service. Apicnic will follow the service. The Nurture Committee asks that those attending take a side dish to serve at least 10 people.The Piano Orchestra will perform during the Sept. 3 service.A pool party/picnic kickoff of the HYlights program for youths grades 5-12 will be held Sept. 10. Old Union PresbyThe worship committee of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will meet after the Sunday service.The church will celebrate its 200th anniversary with an 1806 reenactment, historical food, crafts and displays Sept. 9, and an 1806-themed service Sept. 10. Long-term members will be recognized at the service and a concert by the Men from Mars will be held.Sept. 3 is the last Sunday for the 10 a.m. services. In honor of labor day, members should wear work or school clothes to the service.

Saint Andrews U.P.Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 East Jefferson St., will host its annual corn roast at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Weckerly Farm.An old-fashioned ice cream social will be held after the Sunday service.The women's Bible study will highlight Esther at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

St. John U.C.C.The adult choir will kick off the new season with an ice cream social at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. St. Mark's Evangelical LutheranThere will be no staff Sunday in the Nursery at St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St. The Nursery will be open to accommodate anyone wishing to use it as needed for their children. Plans are under way for a new program.The Women of the Church are seeking donations of gently used or new baby clothes for Lutheran World Relief. Items are also being collected to make layettes. A donation box is located near the church office.There is one week left to give to the offering for the Health Care of the Children of Madagascar. Checks should be made payable to St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church and mark VBS Project.

St. Peter's EpiscopalAfter the 9:30 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Jefferson St., there will be a meeting for Alpha table leaders and prayer team. Trinity PresbyElder Mark Frailey will be the guest speaker at the Sunday service at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 107 Staley Ave., Butler Township. Frailey is a commissioned lay pastor for Friendship Parish and is a student at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.Volunteers from Trinity will serve from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Covenant Food Cupboard.The "12 Keys" mission study will begin Sept. 14. To participate, notify the office by Aug. 31 so a workbook can be ordered. A donation of $10 for the book is requested.Missy Hamilton will provide music for the Sunday service.Glorybound, a gospel group, will perform at 3 p.m. Sept. 2 at a barbecue. Tickets for the barbecue/hymn sing and concert are $5 and are available at the church office.
