9:30 p.m. Sunday — William D. Schupp Jr., 43, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at West Cunningham and Mercer streets in Butler.

Friday — Police arrested Allyshia M. Shaffer, 26, of Butler on drug charges stemming from an incident in June on Broad Street where she was caught with suspected heroin.

Officers found Shaffer about 11 a.m. June 30 after someone called to report two women “shooting up” in a vehicle, according to documents.

When Shaffer was taken from the vehicle, police said they found a loaded syringe on her seat and a spoon between the seat and door. Officers searched her and found one stamp bag and one empty bag of suspected heroin in her sweat shirt pockets.

District Judge Sue Haggerty on Friday arraigned Shaffer on charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.

[naviga:h3]Cranberry Twp. Police[/naviga:h3]

9:27 p.m. Saturday — A Beaver County man was arrested on charges he allegedly shoplifted $396 in merchandise at the Walmart on Route 19. The suspect, Christopher E. Carpenter, 29, of Rochester, is accused of taking two Bostitch tool kits from the store.

An employee at the door stopped Carpenter and his shopping cart with the items. The defendant fled, running through the parking lot before getting into his pickup truck and driving away, according to court documents.

A police officer was nearby and stopped the pickup on Freedom Road.

District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Carpenter on a misdemeanor count of retail theft. Police noted he has one prior shoplifting arrest. Following arraignment, he was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 bail.

[naviga:h3]Grove City Police[/naviga:h3]

Sunday — Two unlocked vehicles parked in a parking lot at 1400 Carrie Way were entered between 12:30 and 5 a.m. A pocket knife, gift cards, a small amount of money, cigarettes and a lighter, valued at a combined $525, were taken from the vehicles.

6:07 p.m. Sunday — An Apple iPhone was turned in to police after it turned up in a woman’s purse. The Grove City woman told police she stopped at several local businesses and upon returning home found an the cell phone in her purse.

The phone is black, an iPhone 5 model with a skull on the screen and in a black case. The owner can claim the property by calling police at 724-458-7925.

Sunday — Someone broke into two unlocked vehicles parked in the 500 block of Uber Way. A hunting knife and sunglasses valued at about $190 were removed from the vehicles. The thefts happened between early Saturday evening and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday — An unknown thief stole several personal items from a car parked at a home in the 600 block of Terrace Avenue. The theft occurred between 9 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

8:12 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Vicki Gonnelly, 64, of Grove City collided with a pickup truck at West Main and Breckenridge streets. No one was injured but both vehicles had to be towed away. A 17-year-old Grove City girl, who police did not identify, was driving the pickup.

Police cited Gonnelly for not stopping at a red light.
