CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians have traded pitcher and Seneca Valley graduate Zach Jackson to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named.

Jackson appeared in only three games for Cleveland last season. He spent most of 2009 at Triple-A Columbus, where the left-hander went 4-8 with a 6.05 ERA, made 14 starts and pitched in 30 games.

Jackson was one of four players acquired by the Indians in the 2008 trade that sent ace CC Sabathia to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Drafted by Toronto in the first round in 2004, Jackson went 2-3 with a 5.60 ERA for Cleveland in '08.

CLEVELAND — Eagles general manager Tom Heckert has agreed to become the Cleveland Browns' new GM, a person familiar with the hiring told The Associated Press.The person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the details of Heckert's contract had not been finalized, said the 42-year-old could join the team on Monday.The Browns recently hired Mike Holmgren as their president and now have found a replacement for general manager George Kokinis, fired by the club in November.

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Oregon State coach Mike Riley has agreed to a three-year contract extension through 2019 amid reports he might replace Pete Carroll at Southern California.The extension was announced by Oregon State late Sunday. Carroll is expected to leave the Trojans to coach the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.The 56-year-old Riley has led the Beavers to six bowl games.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants and first baseman Aubrey Huff agreed to a one-year contract pending a physical, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press.The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had not made a formal announcement, which might not come until later in the week.Huff and the Giants reached their preliminary agreement over the weekend.

DALLAS — Manny Pacquiao will fight March 13 at Cowboys Stadium against Joshua Clottey, after negotiations for a megafight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. broke down over blood testing.
